Who: Leo Valdez, Sebastian Carter
What: Art class hell.
When: Sixth Grade

Leo watched the kids be paired off by the teacher, chin in his hand with a bored look. Art was okay--easy to mess around in, but he got bored easily, and he wasn't really into that drawing crap. Building, sure. Drawing? No. He didn't like coloring and crap, but here they were. Man, public schools suck.

"Leo Valdez and Sebastian Carter," The teacher called, and Leo glanced up. Right, Sebastian. He hadn't seen him for the past few days, huh? Getting up, Leo stretched his back and went to sit across from the other guy, making a face at the pencils laid out in front of them.

"Why waist time on this crap?" Leo muttered. "If I wanted to keep a record of you, I'd take a picture, man."

"Art stimulates and develops the imagination and critical thinking, and refines cognitive and creative skills. Art also strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, adding to overall academic achievement and school success." Sebastian repeated what he'd read once in a book about art and started arranging his art supplies on the table. His hand was bandaged and hurt when he held a pencil to take notes. He didn't look up until he was finished, keeping his voice low so the other kids couldn't hear him.

"I'm not very artistic. But I'm glad you're my partner today."

He gave Leo a small smile.

His usual partners didn't outright bully him in front of the teacher, but they weren't easy to work with either.

Leo gave Sebastian a bland look. "You know, you can learn things outside of books." Plenty of things, like how to build, think... If this was what books turned people into, he didn't want any part of it.

Still, he gave Sebastian a lopsided smile at him, flopped into the seat, and then looked at the other kid. "Yeah. You wanna take a crack drawing me, or should I go first?" The teacher had given them a whole lesson, apparently, but Leo hadn't been there for it! Whatever!

"We could draw each other drawing each other." Sebastian suggested, thinking it would make a very interesting drawing. If he could draw well enough. He would definitely try to do his best to draw Leo so he wouldn't be insulted even if it wouldn't be intentional.

"Mm, yeah," Leo agreed, nodding and thinking of that. He thought that it might make the whole thing really weird, but hey, it was a cool idea. "I haven't had an art class in forever, though, I probably suck." And he didn't devote much time to drawing, when he did have free time.
